Bolam looking forward to final test

Hebburn Town manager Kevin Bolam is looking forward to his teams final pre-season test as they host Northern Premier League side and local neighbours South Shields FC at The Energy Check Sports Ground on Tuesday evening (7.30pm KO).

The hornets have had a really good pre-season against some tough opposition and this has allowed Kevin to rotate his squad and give much needed minutes in the legs of the players as well as looking at various on the field options before the team head into the new Ebac Northern League campaign this coming Saturday.

Kevin commented "The game against South Shields will be another testing game for us and something we need to help maintain our fitness levels ahead of the season opener here on Saturday. It's a pre-season game but no one goes into these games not wanting to compete and win, I'm sure Shields will be wanting to prove something to their supporters after their defeat on Saturday and friendly or not I don't want Hebburn to be the side that succomb to the wrath. The level of opposition we have had this pre-season has been magnificent, it's been a really good schedule for the squad, the club have done very well to secure these games, it's allowed Mick and myself to see many characteristics across the squad and we are really pleased with what we have seen.
Against the teams in higher leagues than us we've competed really well for 65 -70 minutes and played really well, the lads have followed the plans we set out both in and out of possession, that's all we can ask of them at this stage so we are happy."

South Shields travel the short journey to The Energy Check stadium having recently secured a number of high profile new signings to help them hopefully secure another promotion this season. There will be somewhat of a reunion between some players before tonights game as the hornets have no fewer than 5 familiar faces in former mariner's players in their squad (Louis Storey, Luke Sullivan, Graeme Armstrong, Darren Lough & Danny Carson).

We hope the game is a great spectatcle of non league football available within South Tyneside and we hope to attract a good crowd along to offer their support.
