Bobby discusses his aims for the upcoming season.

William Jeffries6 Aug 2024 - 16:00

Bobby’s outlines his season objectives for the 24/25 season.

WJ: How are you preparing the team both mentally and physically for the challenges of playing at step three for the first time in the club's history?

Bobby: “We are under no illusion there will be some mental challenges this season, but all the players are relishing the test. I’m a massive believer in mental resilience and strength. We have a way we conduct ourselves as staff in and around the training ground and dressing room and that is to help build that mental strength of the players. Physically we have a fit group of players already, gone are the days of doing nothing during the summer players look after themselves a lot more now days and they were given a programme to help them prepare for pre-season. Unlike the last 2 pre-seasons, we have not had any major injuries so we are all looking fit and healthy. All the players are excited to be making history come Saturday.”

WJ: What specific strategies and tactics are you implementing to ensure a successful transition to a higher level of competition and achieve the club's goals for the season?

Bobby:”We have a way we want to play, but I’m a big believer in having different ways of playing - adapting to opposition, scenarios in the game, conditions etc, but trying to find a way to win a football match. We will come up against some real quality established teams and we will be preparing the players the best way possible for each game to give them the best chance of getting results.”

WJ: Can you share with us the key objectives and targets you have set for the team for this inaugural season at step three, and how do you plan to motivate and guide the players towards achieving them?

Bobby: “The club’s aim is to maintain its position at step 3 and consolidate our status as a club at this level. As a club, we do things the right way financially making sure the club’s long-term future is healthy and I’m proud of that because of what we have achieved so far and now punching well above our weight. Who would have thought a couple of years ago the club would be going to FC United, Macclesfield, Hyde, Ilkeston and many more big non-league clubs. Laughing - Our targets within the squad will stay in the dressing room unfortunately sorry. The players need no motivation, they are making history by representing the club at step 3 for the first time in it’s history. I will make sure they understand that, and as always, my team will represent the badge by playing with heart, desire, that will to win, and quality. The quality in the squad has progressed and I back the players to achieve what we set out to do and enjoy themselves doing it.”

“There will be ups and downs but Let’s enjoy the ride and have smiles on our faces doing it.”
