Chris Wold named Women’s Head Coach

New Women’s Coaching Team

We are delighted to announce Chris Wold as our new Women’s first team Head Coach, as he replaces Steve Gibson who decided to step down at the end of the season along with his assistant Chris Elliott, and we would like to thank them both for their service.

Chris has been coaching for the last 7 years with the Hebburn Town Juniors, and has coached the u11 girls all the way through to u18s.

However, for the last 3 years, he has also been training as a junior goalkeeping coach, and still does till this day.

Alongside the coaching, Chris has also been helping run the ‘Just Play” sessions over the last 2 and half-years.

After accepting the role, Chris Wold said: “I was honoured to be given the opportunity to take the managers role with the team, stepping up from the junior side of the club.

“I also have two talented assistant coaches to support me in Andy Wallace and Ian Handysides that completes my coaching team, and this puts us in a great position as we prepare for the 24/25 season.

“I was lucky to have been able to watch some of their games last season, and have seen the amount of talent there is in this squad, which gave me an
idea of the level the women can play at.

“The team had a challenging season last season, playing in a division with some very strong opposition, but their determination and tenacity in
the last 6/7 games was incredible, and shows just how passionate and committed they are to the team, each other, and the club.

“They’re a great bunch of women who have grown over this last season, and the hope is to retain as many of them as possible going forward.

“Ian, Andy, and myself can’t wait to get into pre-season, and the challenge of next season”.

We would like to wish Chris, and his coaching team all the best for the new season.
