Hebburn Town vs Cleethorpes Town
Saturday 20th January, 3pm kick-off
Hebburn Sports Ground
The Pitching In Northern Premier League East
The Lowdown
Hebburn will be looking for three points on home soil following last week's 3-3 draw with Pontefract Collieries.
Hebburn established a 2-0 first half lead thanks to an Amar Purewal brace, but Ponte turned the game around in the second period with goals from Callum Nicell, Bailey Thompson and Mikey Dunn.
Dunn's 90th minute strike meant Hebburn looked destined for defeat before they were awarded a penalty deep into stoppage time, from which Purewal completed his hat trick.
The result keeps The Hornets in 2nd position in The Pitching In Northern Premier League East Division, in what is now a very tight top half.
Cleethorpes meanwhile came from behind to beat Sheffield 2-1. Adam Watson gave the world's oldest club the lead mid-way through the first half, with Brody Robertson levelling the scores just before the break.
Josh Walker then grabbed the winner for The Owls in the 63rd minute, with Cleethorpes now sitting 11th in the table.
Head-to-Head
The first meeting between the sides last season brought a 1-1 draw at The Linden Homes Club. Both goals came late in the contest, with James Harrison scoring in the 75th minute, before Declan Howe rescued a point for Cleethorpes with three minutes left.
In the reverse fixture Hebburn emerged victorious by three goals to one. Purewal gave Hebburn a third minute leaf, which was quickly cancelled out by Sam Topliss. A second half goal from Robbie Spence and an Olly Martin penalty secured the victory.
The meeting earlier this season also ended 1-1. Matty Elsdon gave Hebburn an early lead, but Will Annan's second half effort meant the points were shared.
Pre-Match Thoughts
Hebburn Manager Daniel Moore said after the Pontefract game that he was "really proud" of his players, adding "I'm really pleased with where we are in the league, and we just keep plugging away."
Moore continued, "we've got some big games coming up and Pontefract are play-off contenders and we've beaten them and drawn with them so if we can take that forward with the teams in and around us, we'll not be far away."
