Hebburn Town Football club are delighted to share that as part of their ongoing growth and development we will be launching a dedicated football focused academy in partnership with Access Sport College ahead of September 2024.

The football focused programme will be hosted on site at Hebburn Sports Ground Mon-Fri during standard college term times and will enable successful students to study BTEC Diploma's in Sports Coaching & Sports Science (Equivalent to three A levels) with qualified topic specific tutors, whilst also being enabled to train and enhance their all round football ability full time like professionals, focusing on the Physical, Psychological, Technical and social attributes of each student by UEFA qualified coaches.

There'll be a dedicated games programme for students to compete in the relevant leagues.

Club Chief Executive Stephen Rutherford said of the launch "We have been asked on many occasions as a club when would we be setting up an academy structure. It's always been within our development planning, however as well as the club having the correct infrastructure to support such a programme we also needed to be confident in the partner we selected to help us deliver such a programme.

Our overarching principle in creating such an offering is to ensure students get the best opportunity to continue their growth as good people whilst also ensuring they focus on their education to maximise their success to attend further education or employment when they have completed the programme.

A partnership with Access Sport College who have over 30 years experience in the industry alongside great pass rates, Good Ofsted inspection reports and great football related coaching now allows us to push ahead and confirm the creation of our clubs Academy section. We believe this is a great additional pathway to existing club players/members as well as opportunities for local boys and girls outside of the club that want to progress their education and football capability on their doorstep as we are based in the centre of the town in a great accessible location.

The club will be sharing some dates in the coming weeks where we will be hosting information & taster sessions at the site for prospective student to register and come along to find out more information about or specific programme offer.
