The team will form part of the club's senior section and provide a much needed player pathway outlet for upcoming female players within the club's junior section, whilst also striving to progress through the leagues in the female pyramid of the game.

The club will have somewhat of a head start in the set-up of the women' team as it will be bringing an established team and coaching staff under its umbrella in the shape of the current Hebburn Involve Ladies first team.

The club would like to place on record its thanks to Hebburn Involve FC for the support in making this transition work.

Hebburn Town Chief Executive, Stephen Rutherford, stated: “Our football club has longed for a senior women's team to represent the club and community of Hebburn, as well as provide that pathway into the growing female side of the game.

"As part of our club's strategic plans, we had to make sure we were structured both organisationally and financially to make this move a success.

"Following the fantastic success of our Female Just Play development sessions, we feel the club is now in the right position to do this and we are confident we can shape a women's first team that will compete in the regional league and cup competitions whilst doing the club and community proud.

"The introduction of this team will see many previous Hebburn Town Junior players return to their childhood club and we hope this will be great motivation and provide a clear pathway for our current junior female players.

"I’d like to welcome the players and staff to the club and can’t wait to get started in June 2023!”

Hebburn Town Women will play home games at Hebburn Sports Ground and Hebburn Clegwell 3G, during the 2023/24 season with entry free of charge.

Along with the existing squad of players, the club will continue its development pathway across its juniors section as well as its successful Female Just Play sessions to promote female players into its new ladies first team.

The club hope to attract talented female players from across the region that want to represent an upcoming grassroots community club with fantastic facilities.

Our Female Just Play sessions and small-sided games groups that participate on Tuesday evenings will continue to take place and further support the player pathway journey.
