The six-foot-five centre-back, who can also play at left-back, joins following several years in USA and Australia.
Last season Hartlepool-born Paylor represented Mandurah City, though he has previous Northern League experience with Tow Law Town.
After gaining international clearance, he will be eligible to make his debut on Saturday afternoon against Long Eaton United.
"He's a big lad and left footed," stated first-team manager Daniel Moore.
"He'll bring extra depth to the squad which we need - we've gotten through the last few weeks with only 15 or so senior players.
"He doesn't want to be a squad player, he wants to play regularly and competition for places will be great."
