Hebburn Town face a trip to Horden CW in the Durham Challenge Cup first round on Tuesday.

THE LOWDOWN

Hebburn were knocked out the Isuzu FA Trophy at the weekend by step three Warrington Town, following a last-minute penalty.

The Hornets were given a boost as Dan Groves and Olly Martin returned from injury, however Arron Thompson was pulled early after feeling his groin.

Horden currently sit fifth in Northern League Division Two, and suffered a 2-0 defeat at Blyth Town on Saturday with several key players missing.

Liam Wright will be the main danger to Daniel Moore's outfit, with the forward notching 23 goals from 51 appearances since joining at the start of last season.

Under their former guise Horden Colliery Welfare, The Marras lifted the Durham Challenge Cup a total of five times with their last in 2003.

PRE-MATCH THOUGHTS

"We'll be putting out our strongest team possible," stated first-team manager Daniel Moore.

"I want to win this competition - it'll be the strongest side we can get out and some lads will get minutes who were on the bench on Saturday.

"It will be a tough game because Horden are a decent side, I know what they're about.

"It'll be good for me to see the attitudes of the players after Saturday - I want us to go there, be professional and play well."

FAMILIAR FACES

Horden defender Ewan Simpson spent the start of the 2019/20 campaign with Kevin Bolam's side, scoring against Billingham Town in Northern League Division One.
