PREVIEW | Warrington Town (H)

PREVIEW | Warrington Town (H)

Josh Youll6 Oct 2022 - 16:10

Hebburn welcome Warrington Town to The Green Energy Sports Ground on Saturday afternoon in The Isuzu FA Trophy.

THE LOWDOWN

Hebburn are unbeaten at home under Daniel Moore, with The Hornets enjoying four victories and a draw on South Tyneside.

Ten-man Grantham Town scored in the 90th minute to take a 2-2 draw from the North East last weekend, despite Liam Henderson's second half brace.

Hebburn, who defeated Trafford and Stockton Town in the previous rounds, are under an injury crisis with five first-teamers on the treatment table, and matters were made worse when Oliver Walters and Sean Reid came off early against Grantham.

Warrington lie 12th in the Pitching In Northern Premier League Premier Division table, and haven't recorded an away victory since August 16.

The Yellows faced Warrington Rylands in a derby on Tuesday night, and Mark Beesley's side rescued a 3-3 draw in the dying minutes through an own goal.

Bohan Dixon was sent off for Town as the clock hit 90, however the playmaker will be available for Saturday's tie as his suspension won't come into effect.

PRE-MATCH THOUGHTS

"I'm hoping we can get at least one or two injured lads back," commented first-team manager Daniel Moore.

"The aim is to stay unbeaten at home and we managed that against Grantham.

"We need to stand up on Saturday - Warrington are a tough side who have been in the play-offs most seasons, so we need to stand up and give it a real go.

"We won't risk lads because we can't afford to - if players aren't available, others will have to take their chance."

LAST MEETING

Warrington travelled to Hebburn in the same stage of the competition last season, and recorded a 2-0 victory as both sides were hit by absences.

Kevin Bolam's outfit stayed strong until 58 minutes when Jack Mackreth scored the opener despite appeals for a foul on Carl Taylor.

Mackreth then forced a good save from Mark Foden 20 minutes later, however substitute Stefan Mols was on hand to snatch Warrington's second of the afternoon from the rebound.
