We are delighted to announce the signing of Scarlette Power.
We caught up with our new signing to ask her a few questions on joining the team.
WJ: What inspired you to pursue a career as a goalkeeper, and who were your role models growing up in the sport?
SP: As a child growing up, I played in goal quite a bit and I grew to just love being in goal. I thought I’d be rubbish at first, but I was actually quite good at it and my mam was my inspiration to go further into goal keeping and I want to be like Mary Earps when I’m older.
WJ: Can you share a memorable moment from your career so far that really stands out to you, whether it was a great save or a challenging match?
SP: When I was younger, I was playing for Sunderland West End and I got the chance to get the Golden Glove. It was out of me and this girl who I was playing that game and she had two less saves than me and I had to keep a clean sheet to get the golden glove. I managed to pull off a really good save at the last minute.
WJ: Have you set yourself any goals or targets for the season that you’d like to achieve?
SP: To get the team to win the league and this will be up to me to save as many shots as possible and not let many goals in.
Thank you for your time Scarlette.
On the signing of Power, Chris Wold said: “It’s great to have Scarlette onboard with us. She’s a young, strong goalkeeper who’s passionate about the position. It was always our goal to strengthen the GK position and we’re pleased that Scarlett’s is going to be part of the squad this season.”
We would like to wish Scarlette Power all the best for the upcoming season.
