Savage who was previously a Hornet, recently signed his first professional contract with the Mariners earlier this year after predominantly featuring for their academy side.

Savage’s other former clubs include North Shields and Boldon CA.

Savage was recently on-loan at Blyth Spartans where he made 11 appearances and scoring two goals, before being recalled by his parent club.

Bobby said: “Dan is a player we have had before and always thought highly of which is why he was involved with our first-team. He’s gone on into full time football and you can see he has developed so much in a short space of time and I’m excited to have him back.”

Joao Gomes was born in Portugal and signed for the Mariners in 2019. He started off in their academy, before going on to make his senior debut for the first- team in the 2022/23 season that saw South Shields win promotion to the National League North. He made 23 appearances that year and managed four goals.

Gomes was also at Blyth Spartans on loan where he made 16 appearances and scoring three goals, before being recalled.

Bobby said: “Joao is a very exciting player and is someone that we have been aware of and kept an eye on since last year. Same as Dan, he has developed so much being in full-time football and his performances this season at our level have been very good. I think in how we want to play attacking teams, he’s a great addition.”
