Players and staff were taken aback by the response from the community to come out and line the line the streets as the team buses departed for the journey to the National Stadium. The team were met by a guard of honour the length of South Drive, along Victoria Road West, and even groups on Mill Lane as the coaches made their way through the sea of black and yellow. From applause at the roadside, to waving flags from the top of a bus stop, the lads were given a send off that they will never forget.
Along with the local Hebburn and wider South Tyneside Communities, it was fantastic so see so many members of Hebburn Town Juniors in the crowd, not only cheering the team they support, but the one many of them will have been representing yesterday in the local junior leagues too. Whilst there is disappointment they can't be there for the main event turning Wembley Way black and yellow we are sure that they'll be cheering the lads on from behind their TV screens tomorrow.
