A product Sunderland's youth set-up, Hunter lifted the Durham FA Minor Cup with the U23s in 2019/20, before falling marginally short the following season.

Hunter spent time with Matty Pattison's Gateshead U19s in 2020/21, representing The Heed for a total of three years.

The young shot-stopper made the bench several times in 2020/21, including the FA Vase Final, before making his senior debut in November 2021.

He joined Chester-le-Street Town in September 2022 on dual registration terms to further his development.
